Hi Tony & all,
The meetup map is useless and the directions to the given address is non-existent. I haven't been to Brooklyn's Prospect Park in over 20 years, so I don't remember what trains to take or which station is at the Garden's entrance. I do believe there is parking for cars, but I'm no help there either. And I have no idea where The Overlook is located! It's not mentioned in the page you have posted, Tony.

Having a meeting under the cherry trees, though, is a pleasant idea - if it doesn't rain. Any backup ideas for inclement weather?

P.S. I'm wondering why this scheduled Meetup for 4/29 was not sent out as a members' special announcement notification.

If you can manage to get there earlier, this might be a terrific spectacle to watch (& hear!) -
Noon–12:45: Taiko Drumming [Soh Daiko] - Cherry Esplanade Stage

Thanks for checking on this Pax. To answer your other questions:
I did not send out a special message because I don't know how to
I have no inclement weather alternative. If it rains hard, I gues I'll get there and get wet.
I chose the Over look because it is the closest item on the map to where the cherry trees are. It is a hill overlooking the trees.

I did not know about the Taiko Drumming. Thanks! I have a long way to go to get there (I live in Hackettstown NJ), but I will try to be there by 11:45 AM

By the way, my cell phone is 908-313-1736. When you are ready to leave Pax, you can check to see when my Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) is.
Call me to coordinate your meeting times if you have cell phones yourselves.

Im Stoked!
I'm going to plan on getting there early.
The Cherry Esplanade sounds like a good place to meet.

Tony I've got your cell

I would rather not broadcast my phone # on the Message board but if anyone emails me at bobaliocus @ optonline . net ill be glad to give it to you. Give me your number as well when you email. If we all have each others phone numbers it will be easier for those that are late to catch up with the others.

I'm glad folks are doing a meet-up. Sorry I can't be there. As I explained to Tony, I almost always work on weekends--it's been my main difficulty from the beginning when it comes to participating in meet-ups. But I hope folks have a great day. I'll be with you in spirit!

Sorry Bru. I understand your unavailability on the weekends. We'll keep you in mind when we meet at the Brooklyn Botantical Gardens.
I'd love to meet on the weekdays but my problem is the distance from New York. This means I have to meet on a weekend or I can't come. Unless we meet some weekeday night and go to Waterloo village. This is right near where I live and is a simple drive along Interstate 80 to get there for those in /new York City. Should I schedule it for a weekday night? It might be fun. Check their website at http://www.fieldtrip....
This may be a great place for Pantheists like us to meet.
Unfortunately, the state has stopped funding for the village: see
http://www.state.nj.u...
This does not stop us.
Waterloo village is still a special place. I last went ther to attend the Dodge Poetry Festival - a really special time
Let's see if this is a place that we can meet on a Friday night, or when ever Bru has available. What do you think?

I won't be working as much on weekends in August and September. Perhaps we can work something out then. You see, the problem is that I work at a Broadway theatre, and I have performances Tuesdays through Sundays, so I wouldn't want for folks to try to work around my inconvenient schedule.

Tony,
According to the website you posted (btw, I corrected the defective url), the place closes after 5pm. The admission is $9 for adults and $8 for 'seniors' (woo woo!). The official website, waterloovillage.org, expired on 03/24/2007 and is pending renewal or deletion. There is no way to find out if there are buses leaving from NYC. For those without a car, this place is not for them. Nice idea, Tony, but not very accessible for us urban transit riders.
